During this session, you will be introduced to a powerful, design-driven tool that enables product developers to make the recyclability of electronic consumer products objective and measurable. Using product data such as material selection, weight, coatings, additives, and connection types, the RAT calculates a realistic recyclability rate aligned with current European recycling practices. What makes the tool particularly powerful is that it goes beyond a single score: it clearly reveals where and why material losses occur and which design choices have the greatest potential for improvement. In this way, the RAT translates design-for-recycling principles into practical, data-driven insights, empowering development teams to make well-founded circular design decisions, without requiring in-depth recycling expertise.
